SPOKANE SHADOW NEWS RELEASE -- Friday, April 25, 2014
Known around the professional indoor circuit for his outlandish Mohawk, Spokane native Elliot Fauske will return home this summer during the Rochester Lancers’ offseason and join the Shadow for their debut Evergreen Premier League season the club announced.
The Mead graduate began his career with the Shadow in 1999 as one of the club’s U19 Development Players at age 17 during his junior year. He played for the club four more seasons (2000, 02-03, 05) before joining the Yakima Reds in 2006. He also played for the Cascade Surge in 2004. He completed his Shadow career with six goals and a pair of assists over the course of five seasons. As a youth player, he played for SSC Falcons, which has since joined with the Shadow.
After finishing school at Seattle University, where he made an Elite Eight appearance in the Division II tournament, Fauske went on to eventually play for the Kitsap Pumas’ PASL indoor and USL PDL outdoor teams, making 28 appearances at midfield in the PDL in 2011 and 2012. The Pumas won the PDL championship in 2011 and narrowly fell, 2-1, to the MLS Seattle Sounders in the Third of the US Open Cup earlier in the season.
It is in Rochester, though, where the former Shadow player has left his mark. He has played 64 games in the past three Major Indoor Soccer League seasons for the Lancers, but it was his wild hairstyles that helped forge the Mohican Warrior nickname (Rochester D&C Video) and his promotional speech-riffs reminiscent of professional wrestling promos that brought the spotlight (View them on YouTube).
As a defender, Fauske was fourth on the Lancers in points last season with 13 goals (third most on the team) and four assists. The tally proved beneficial for a local Rochester charity that received $888 for every goal he (#8) scored. He scored seven goals total in the previous two campaigns. He was recognized with the club's Community Service Award in both of his first two seasons with the team.
Off The Pitch
Fauske is also a budding indie recording artist set to release an album in the near future as Foski. Fans into heavy rock and rap can check out the debut track on his website Foski.com.
The Spokane Shadow open their season May 3 at the newly-renovated Spokane Falls Community College. Ticket packages are available at the Spokane Shadow Online Shop
