SSC Shadow and the Spokane Sounders are excited to announce the addition of coaches Nick Hamer and Nick Piger for the 2018-19 season.
Hamer has a decorated playing history having been named the 2013 West Coast Conference Player of the Year at Gonzaga and has played professionally for Seattle Sounders 2 and Kitsap Pumas. He is a current player for the Spokane Shadow’s NPSL team, represented the Shadow as a youth player and has worked extremely close with Tim Seely. Currently an assistant coach with Eastern Washington EPD, Hamer has also coached for the last four years with Washington East Soccer Club and is excited to join Seely in coming over to the SSC Shadow and Spokane Sounders.
“I cannot wait to get started with the Shadow and the Spokane Sounders players, teams, and staff,” said Hamer. “We can make a significant and lasting impact on the community when it comes to developing Spokane’s talent to the fullest potential possible."
Technical Director Abbas Faridnia had this to say about Hamer, “Nick is one of the best soccer players to have come out of Spokane and his commitment to the game is unquestioned. Harnessing his knowledge, passion and intelligence for the game is going to be a treat for Spokane’s young players."
Nick Piger, another former Shadow youth player, also joins the club having worked closely with Seely as a Washington East coach. Piger was a goalkeeper at Gonzaga University and has most recently been closely involved and integral in an advisory role for players looking to move into the intercollegiate soccer ranks at all levels, including NCAA Division I.
“Nick’s commitment to assisting and placing players in their college search is impressively significant,” said Director of Coaching Mike Pellicio. “Adding Piger’s skill set to the club is going to be a great asset for our older players as they look for quality mentorship and advocacy in their search for college placement."
Piger is pleased to join the Sounders staff and looks forward to meeting parents this spring and early summer.
“I am excited to be able to help players and parents through the confusing world of collegiate recruiting," said Piger. "I am thrilled to come with Tim to this organization and to work with the current staff and players that the Sounders have."
SSC Shadow and the Spokane Sounders are thrilled to add Hamer and Piger to the coaching staff and hope that parents and players will be just as enthusiastic about these new additions.
