Spokane Shadow set EPLWA tryout dates

Open trial sessions March 8-9 kick off talent search for debut EPLWA side and reserve squad

SPOKANE SHADOW NEWS RELEASE  --  Friday, February 7, 2014

The Spokane Shadow men’s soccer team announced that the team will be conducting an open tryout in early March to evaluate players interested in joining the team for the inaugural Evergreen Premier League season in 2014. The sessions March 8-9, at a site in greater-Spokane to be announced, will be one of the primary avenues utilized for player selection.

“We have already received a lot of inquiries from players interested in joining the team, and a number of college coaches throughout the Northwest have reached out to us indicating that some of their players are looking to play,” said Spokane Shadow General Manager Gerald Barnhart. “We expect a good breadth of college and U19 talent from the region to attend, which will undoubtedly make the selection process difficult.”

The active roster limit for the 2014 EPLWA season is 25 players, but the Shadow are looking to fill approximately 40 spots with the intention of also creating a reserve squad that would play locally.

“Many of the teams in the league are expecting to create a pool of players to compliment their initial 25 for flexibility, but our main focus will be looking for players that want to play in a quality environment for an opportunity to develop alongside talented collegiate players and become long-term prospects for the team,” said Shadow Technical Director Abbas Faridnia. “We expect for most of the reserve players to be local U19 products from the greater Spokane-North Idaho area, including some high school talent looking to improve their resumes for future collegiate endeavors.”

Further information will be available on the team’s tryout page online, including a registration form. The administrative fee for participating in the tryout is $20 plus online processing fee.

All players under the age of 18 will need parental approval to participate.
